藥理﹕

1. inhibits fungi: its water extract inhibits Achorion Schonleinii, Ferruginum and other fungi that regularly cause skin diseases.

2. effect on immune system:  inhibits phagocytosis of monocytes and inhibits Delayed Type Hypersensitivity (DTH). Its DTH effect can be related to its function of inhibiting phagocytosis of monocytes. 

1. 抑菌： 水浸劑對許蘭氏黃癬菌 （Achorion Schonleinii) ﹐奧杜盎氏小芽胞癬菌﹐鐵銹色小芽胞癬菌 （M. Ferruginum) ﹐羊毛狀小芽胞癬菌﹐星形奴卡氏菌 （Nocardia ） 等常見致病性皮膚真菌均有不同程度的抑制作用。

2. 對免疫功能的影響： 水提物有抑制單核巨噬系統的吞噬功能及遲發型超敏反應(DTH)，其抑制DTH的作用機制可能與它對單核巨噬系統功能的抑制有關。

Actions & Indications:

主治﹕

1. Internal use: Inflammations and infections of the urinary bladder,  prostate,  kidneys and urinary tract, gonorrhea, edema, beriberi, difficulty in urination.

2. External applications: itchy and damp testicle area, boils, ring worms. Water decoction of leaves can be used externally for erysipelas (丹毒)﹐and for improving night vision.

功能：益精強陰，入膀胱，除虛熱，利小便而通淋。

主治﹕

1. 內服﹕淋病，水腫，腳氣，小便不利。

2. 外用﹕皮膚惡瘡疥癬，陰囊濕癢。葉亦可用﹐水煎作浴湯，去皮膚風熱丹腫。洗眼除雀盲澀痛。

煎湯內服﹕3～15克。外用適量，煎水洗患都。

地膚子湯(千金方)

Erysipelas (St. Anthony's fire ): di fu zi, jin yin hua, ju hua 30 g each, jin jie, fang feng 15 g each. Make into decoction. Use as tea.

治丹毒： 地膚子、金銀花、菊花各30g, 荊芥、防風各15g。水煎服。《陝甘寧青中草藥選》

Wet and itchy groin: di fu zi, she chuang zi, ku shen, hua jiao, equal amount of each. Boil with water and wash affected area.

治陰囊濕癢： 地膚子、蛇床子、苦 參、花椒各等量。煎水外洗。《湖北中草藥志》。

For eczema, itchy rash: di fu zi 15 g, bai xian  pi  9 g, chuan bi bo 12 g, ku shen, ye ju hua 98 g each, sheng di huang 12 g, chi shao yao, dang gui 9 g each. Make into decoction with water. Drink as tea.

治濕疹，癢疹： 地膚子15g， 白蘚皮 9g，川蓽撥12g，苦 參、野 菊 花

各98g，生地黃12g，赤芍、當 歸各9g。水煎服。(《中藥臨床應用》除濕消疹湯)
